Kuala Lipis - Pahang

Both Raub and Kuala Lipis have one common similarity, gold mine! Raub has gold mine that operated by Raub-Australia Gold Mining Company which had created a lot of issues and protests from the near-by Bukit Koman residents recently while the Penjom, Kuala Lipis gold mine is operated by J Resources Company.
From Raub to Kuala Lipis is about 1 hour drive by car or 60km in distance. Kuala Lipis was once the capital of Pahang state and situated next to a river with small jetty (It is not operated anymore).
Along the main street of Kuala Lipis, there are numbers of old buildings built in 1920s by the British. Here you can find the old traditional wooden door which is very rare. This type of door is very rare to find now.  I know there is one in Raub town and surprisingly encounter another in Kuala Lipis town.
There are few century-old buildings like Pahang Club that built in 1907 and the old Mousque built in 1888! However they are not getting much attention like those in Melaka and George Town Penang. The railway station was built in 1927 and still operated till today.
If you compare Kuala Lipis with Bentong, it is almost similar size but because of the location, Kuala Lipis is less well-know than Bentong which is nearer to Klang Valley.  Kuala Lipis is good for a day trip visit and remember to take your lunch before 12 noon because the food stalls close early otherwise you have to take junk fast food.
Not sure why it start with zero.

Have fond memories with bicycle

It means new China Hotel

The main street

Old hotel

Built in 1930

This mosque was built in 1888 and sits beside the river

The Pahang Club
The whole building is black and white color

The old railway station

Different feel

Old bicycle

The old style door. The round wooden bars are like protection to the wood door. It moves horizontally.

Walk down the stair and you will find food stalls at the end

    1. Hello Fabian,

Thanks for reading the blog. Penjom Gold mine is not far away from Kuala Lipis. I estimate about 15-20 mins. Please watch out for the sign board along the road.

I had been to that mine long time ago. It is a big open pit mine but not sure how much gold left. Avocet UK was the owner of the mine but sold to an Indonesia owner now.

Are you going to work there?
